In His Time
Introduction:
A.
We can become just as impatient
when it comes to things that are often beyond our control. Learning to wait on
God to offer His help can be difficult and tiresome. Why must we learn to wait on Him?
I. 12:7 - To Humble Ourselves
A.
Paul notes the reason why a messenger
of Satan was sent to Him – to keep from boasting.
1.
There was much Paul could boast
about…
2.
The abilities and opportunities he had could have caused him
to think more of himself than he should have.
B.
Humility is a key characteristic
of those claiming godliness.
1.
It is quite possible that
troubles are given to us so that we remember our place. James 1:2-4
2.
Problems have a way of fine
tuning our focus.
II. 12:8 - To
Learn Dependence Upon God
A.
During this troublesome period, Paul pleaded with God on
three occasions to remove it from him.
B.
There comes a moment in every
person’s life where only the Lord can be the one to remove our trouble.
1.
Even then there is no guarantee
our trouble will be removed. Ps. 130:5-8
2.
Ultimately, we are not able to do anything on our own.
III. 12:9 - To
Allow the Lord to Work in Your Life
A.
Though Paul was greatly concerned about his situation, the
Lord simply said, “Trust me.”
1.
His grace (unmerited favor) was
sufficient to see Paul through this ordeal.
2.
Due to the Lord’s help, Paul was
able to perfect himself in his faith.
B.
No matter the issue we face, we
do not have to face it alone.
1.
The same help (grace) that was
available to Paul, is available to us.
2.
That is the whole point and
purpose of being a Christian – to better ourselves! Col. 3:1-2
IV. 12:10 - To
Remember Our Real Purpose in Life
A.
Paul was content to live with
problems if it brought honor and glory to the Lord.
B.
The reason we exist is to bring
honor and glory to the Lord.
1.
We do so when we…
a.
Obey His commands
b.
Love each other the way we should
c.
Treat our fellow man with love
and respect
d.
Become the person He expects of
us
Conclusion
A.
We must learn to be patient and allow the Lord to work on His
time.

Are you waiting on Him this
morning?
