Understanding the Role of Women (3)
Introduction:
Is it warranted to say the
main emphasis in scripture is to limit the woman? Would it surprise you if,
after examination, we found the overall teaching of Scripture places very few
restrictions on women? In fact, we see a great number of ways women function
& have functioned in the Church. Women have done an incredible amount of
good in God’s church.
I. A Look at the New Testament Church
A.
Women
played a role in the ministry of Jesus.
1.
Luke
8:1-3; 23:55-56 – women were active in the daily ministry of Jesus and
were the last to leave the cross.
2.
Lk.
10:38 – Mary & Martha.
Mt. 12:49-50 – Jesus used female terms to publicly acknowledge the
women who followed Him.
B.
Romans
16:1-2, 3, 6, 7, Phil. 4:3 – Paul recognized many women publicly.
1.
Women
… in every generation … have served in their given role as students, servants,
and in teaching.
II. What can women do? What is their role in the local church?

Discuss
one topic restricted to women. A loving mother & a keeper of the home.

A godly woman does not need a list of
things she can do as much as she needs for some men to get out of her way.

God for women who do what the can. We are all better for it.
