Evolution vs. Creation
2002013
Subject: evolution; creation
Introduction:
A.
For 150 years
– society has bought into the “lie” that evolution is a fact.
1.
Public at large
believes evolution the only valid explanation for creation of the earth.
2.
Evolution is a basic
belief of humanism. Humanism
denies God and elevates man to be the highest form of life in the universe.
B.
Evolutionists
reject the Bible as the inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative word
of God.
1.
After first
denying Gen. 1-11 – advocates of evolution now attack the Bible from many
directions.
2.
Since the
creation account is rejected, many now find it easy to deny miracles &
prophecy found w/in the Bible.
C.
Evolution teaches
that man is an animal. If an
animal he will act as an animal.
1.
Belief has led to
many problems we now face in society.
2.
Some attribute
our country’s moral decline to the acceptance of evolution and the denial that
God exists.
D.
Christians must
accept that the world was created by God.
1.
This is not a
judgment matter.
2.
Evolution is a
threat to faith! Heb. 11:3
3.
The Bible account
of creation cannot be reconciled w/evolutionary theory.
I. Bible
says our world began by Creative Genius.
A.
Psa. 19:1; Isa.
40:26, 28; Heb. 3:4; Acts 17:24
B.
Bible begins
w/the claim in Gen. 1:1.
1.
first 2 chapters
of Genesis then gives us the foundational claim of the Bible:
2.
God created the
world.
3.
God gave life to
its inhabitants in 6 days of creation. See also Ex. 20:11
C.
It is stated in
the same declarative style in informing us about all the other facts stated in
the Bible. Its stands/falls
together.
II. Bible claims a perfect, mature, & full-grown
creation from the beginning.
A.
Man is not
pictured as a product of development over course of a billion years.
1.
Rather, we see
him as the designed creation of God from the beginning.
2.
Note how Jesus
speaks of Adam/Eve – Mt. 19:4; Mk. 10:6
B.
God created the
first living things fully grown & in possession of power of reproduction.
1.
6 times in Gen. 1
God said His creation was “good.”
2.
The biblical
account suggests no disorder or “struggle for survival” as evolutionists claim.
3.
All things were
operating in perfect harmony & order.
C.
Evolution demands
we view things going from the very simple to complex.
1.
lifeless ooze
becomes filled with life – an amoeba – then evolves over the course
of time into a complex being (Human)
2.
A mass of matter
exploding – disarray – moving toward a more orderly arrangement.
(Big Bang)
D.
Scripture teaches
that the process is working in exact reverse.
1.
Things were more
perfect in their original state.
2.
But…have been
subjected to degeneration & decay by the introduction of sin.
III. The results of creation are presented in a
non-evolutionary manner.
A.
Gen. 1:11-25
– each living unit of creation reproduces “after its kind.”
B.
Two lower life
forms have never mated to give birth to a higher life form.
1.
Cats do not give
birth to horses.
2.
Horses do not
give birth to humans.
3.
Why? Because each living thing reproduces
after its kind.
C.
Evolutionists
believe in a process which is contrary to the Bible.
1.
They accept the
premise that it requires millions of years to change from lower to higher life.
2.
But cannot
specifically point to living things right now in the middle of the evolutionary
process.
IV. Consider the order of the universe.
A.
Is everything a
result of chance? Coincidence?
1.
When will next
full moon on Christmas Eve occur? 2076.
2.
Haley’s
comet: 1986…2062…2138…every 76
years…
3.
What are the
chances of all this falling into place by mere coincidence?
B.
Rotation of
the earth.
1.
Everything is
just right in order to sustain life.
2.
Slower: day time too hot & night too cold
for life to continue.
3.
Faster: equally grave problems.
C.
Orbit of earth
around the sun.
1.
Farther: too cold to sustain life; to
close: too hot.
D.
Consider:
1.
Thickness of
atmosphere; the factors needed to sustain necessary gases in exactly the right
proportions.
2.
Amount of surface
covered by water.
3.
Was it all by
design or chance?
E.
Order/design in
the animal world.
1.
Bees communicate
the direction & distance of food sources to other bees by vibrating. This is essential for their
survival. How did they learn it?
2.
How would they
have survived to evolve this behavior when such was necessary for their
existence?
3.
Is it reasonable
to assume that such was the result of mere chance?
4.
Evolutionists
must explain how:
a)
Salmon know how
to return the same FW stream where they were hatched years earlier.
b)
How animals
depend on each other for survival. Same dependence is seen between animals & certain plants.
c)
Go on and on.
F.
Order of the
human body.
1.
Muscle that
functions only once at birth – but is necessary for us to survive the
change from life w/in the womb to life on the outside.
a)
How did that
evolve? When it had to be there
for any human to survive birth.
2.
Eye?
a)
Cannot match it
for vision – even w/the latest technology & allowing for many time
the space occupied by the eye.
3.
Order of bodily
systems.
a)
Heart; lungs;
brain; ears; muscles; bone structure – order to the smallest detail!
b)
All these systems
exist in EVERY human being!
c)
Think of how
complex human body is – and yet evolutionists say it’s all by chance it
got that way. Huh?
4.
Psa. 19:1; 139:14
V. Evolution DEMANDS faith.
A. One who accepts evolution do so on
“faith” rather than “fact.”
B. The evolutionist must assume:
1.
Nonliving things
gave rise to living material, i.e. spontaneous generation.
2.
Spontaneous
generation occurred only once.
3.
Viruses;
bacteria; plants; animals; are all interrelated.
4.
Single celled
organisms gave rise to multi-celled organisms.
5.
All organisms w/o
a backbone (invertebrate) are interrelated.
6.
Invertebrates
gave rise to vertebrates.
7.
With the
vertebrates, fish gave rise to amphibian, amphibian to reptiles, reptiles to
birds, and birds to mammals.
D.
These are just
that: assumptions.
1.
NOT FACTS as some
would like to think.
2.
In the final
analysis … evolution and creation have the same evidence for us to begin with.
3.
Differences
result from interpretation of said evidence.
4.
Which interpretation is more reasonable?
E.
The Bible claims
evidence available is properly used to deduce existence of God.
