Introduction:

A.      Psa. 142 is considered by scholars to have been written concerning the time David was hiding in the cave from King Saul.

1.    1 Sam. 22:1.

2.    Consider 142:4 – it would be a terrible feeling to feel that no one cared!  Lonely, all on his own, etc.

B.      It is a fact that there are multitudes in our world, in this country, in this city, that care nothing about whether you are lost or not!

1.    In fact, they have absolutely NO INTEREST for your soul or yourself for that matter.

2.    But don’t get the idea that no one cares!  It’s not true!

C.     Many care about your soul.  Who are they?

I.  2 Pet. 3:9 – God Cares!

A.     God takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked.  He doesn’t want to see you lost in hellfire!

1.    Ezek. 18:23.

2.    Lk. 15:10 – Luke’s gospel tells us that he takes pleasure in those who are saved!

B.    Lk. 19:10 – the mission of Christ should tell us about the tremendous care/concern of God.

C.    Rom. 5:8-9 – Paul told us of the power and motivation of this demonstration of care/concern.

D.    God wants you in heaven – not hell!

II.  Rom. 5:6 – Jesus Cares!

A.    Heb. 2:9 – Jesus tasted death for every man.

1.    I challenge you to read the agony in the garden of Gethsemane – the utter humiliation of the trials – the cruelty of the cross.

2.    Then say – “Nobody Cares!”  Phil. 2:8 – shows us that indeed Christ cares!

a)    Look at what He gave up!

b)    He did this so that you might have hope!

B.    1 Tim. 2:6 – Jesus “gave himself a ransom for all” – and this includes you!

III.  Lk. 15:7 – Heaven’s Inhabitants Care.

A.     Lk. 15:10 – there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repents!

B.    Those who enjoy heavenly bliss are eager to be able to share it with you when this world is finished.

IV.  Lk. 16:19-31 – Hell’s Inhabitants Care.

A.    In Lk. 16 – Jesus spoke of the incident w/the rich man & Lazarus.

1.    Rich man in torment – requests that message be sent back to father’s house.  (16:28)

2.    This man did not want his brothers coming to hell’s torment where he was.

3.    If one is lost and in hell’s torment – he doesn’t want to see you again!

C.   You don’t want to go there and find out what the rich man was talking about!

D.   Let us resolve to do whatever possible to keep for going to this terrible place.

V.  Mk. 16:15 – the Saved on Earth Care.

A.     This commandment is still being followed as demonstrated by the very one who invited your to your first worship service.

1.    Think about the many nights of sleepless concern – the countless numbers of prayers – the finances given for teaching materials.

2.    This all demonstrate that the saved on earth do care about your soul.

B.    Let us all resolve to go out & tell the world that we care about their souls!

VI.  1 Pet. 5:8-9 – Satan Cares.

A.     The adversary of men will do all that he can to get you back if he has lost you.

1.    2 Cor. 4:4 – Bible refers to him as the god of this world.

2.    Rev. 12:9 – Satan seeks to deceive the world!

B.     Jhn. 8:44 – he = the father of lies.

C.    He will lie to you, he will deceive you – because he is the enemy of God and of all goodness.

VII.  Do you Care?

A.       If you do not care – then all the preaching, pleading, praying and sacrificing on your behalf are in vain.

1.    You have the final voice & choice in this matter.

2.    If you are out of duty w/the Lord – if you are not a Christian – do not let the death of Christ be in vain!

B.      Do not turn your back upon hope!

CONCLUSION:

A.     The Bible teaches that to be saved – one must hear the gospel!  Rom. 10:17

B.    Jhn. 8:24 – One must believe that Christ is the Son of God.

C.    Lk. 13:3 – One must repent of sin.

D.    Rom. 10:9-10 – one must confess his faith.

E.    Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3-5 – One must be baptized for the forgiveness of sin.

F.     Doing this will demonstrate that you really do care for your own soul and that the care of God, Christ, heaven’s inhabitants; hells inhabitants; and the saved on earth had not been in vain.

G.    Acts 2:40; 10:34-35.
