Judgment Day

Introduction

Judgment is used to describe the results/consequences of our deeds it is used 16 times in the New Testament. Hebrews 9:27 speaks with certainty. God’s judgment will be without partiality.  It will be fair, honest, and accurate.  

I.  Romans 2:2 - We will be judged according to truth. 

A.     NASU: the judgment of God rightly falls…

1.  Footnote: according to truth against.

B.     We will be judged according to the things that really are.

C.     It will be according to truth.

1.     1 Corinthians 4:5 - Our very motives will be under consideration.

2.     John 12:46-50 - God’s word will be the standard.

II.  Romans 2:6 - We will be judged according to our deeds.

A.     Ezekiel 18:20 - Judgment will be individual in nature.

1.     We must make pleasing God our primary aim in life.

B.     2 Corinthians 5:9-11

C.     Galatians 6:7-8 – we reap what we sow.

D.  May feel they have plenty of time. The fact is, we just do not know when the Lord will return – 2 Peter 3:3-9; 2 Peter 3:10-12

III.  Romans 2:8-11 - We will be judged without partiality.

A.     The above principles can be universally applied to man.

1.     We are all on equal terms with God.

B.     It doesn't matter who you are, where you have been, you will be accountable to the principles set forth in God's Word.

C.     Acts 17:30-31 - Ignorance is not an excuse!

Conclusion

A.     The appointment day has been set.  You, I have an appointment w/God someday.

1.     Mt. 25:31-46 - the verdict will be final!

B.     To some judgment day will be a day of joyous deliverance.  It will be a day in which those who are in Jesus Christ can enter into their final rest!

C.     To some it will be a day of condemnation!  Eternally separated from God - to have to suffer throughout all eternity!
