I.  LOT, THROUGH BACKWARD PRIORITIES: GEN 13:12

A.  Gen 13:5-6; 8-13

B.  Lot in Sodom:

1.  Offered daughters to be raped: 19:8

2.  Lost all influence and credibility "salt": sons in law who didn't go: 19:14

3.  almost lost his own life: 19:16 (without divine intervention Lot would have dies in Sodom)

4.  lost all possessions and: 19:24

5.  Lost wife: 19:26

C.  Lot's problems started by his choice back in Gen 13:5

D.  What choices are you making in your life right now that will lead to disaster in future?

II.  JOB

A.  Job 1:8-11 + 1:20-22

B.  Job 2:3-5 + 2:9-10

III.  SELF MADE-MILLIONAIRE AT DEATH:  LUKE 12:16-21

A.  Ps 39:6 Man is a mere phantom as he goes to and fro: He bustles about, but only in vain; he heaps up wealth, not knowing who will get it.

B.  Prov 10:4 Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

C.  Prov 13:7 One pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

D.  Prov 11:16 A kindhearted woman gains respect, but ruthless men gain only wealth.

E.  Ezek 28:5 By your great skill in trading you have increased your wealth, and because of your wealth your heart has grown proud.

F.  1 Cor 4:7-8 For who regards you as superior? And what do you have that you did not receive? But if you did receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it? You are already filled, you have already become rich, you have become kings without us; and I would indeed that you had become kings so that we also might reign with you.

G.  Deut 8:17 You say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me." But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth

H.  James 4:13-15 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money."

1.  Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that."

I.  Parable of the talents

IV.  YOUNG RULER, IN JUDGMENT: MARK 10:17-26

A.  Matt 13:22 The one who received the seed that fell among the thorns is the man who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke it, making it unfruitful.

B.  Luke 16:13 "No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money." The Pharisees, who loved money, heard all this and were sneering at Jesus.

V.  CHRISTIANS WHO FALL AWAY: REV 3:17

A.  Eph 1:7 In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace

B.  Eph 1:18 I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,

C.  Eph 2:4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy,

D.  Eph 2:7 in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus.

E.  Eph 3:8 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

F.  Isa 52:3 For this is what the LORD says: "You were sold for nothing, and without money you will be redeemed."

G.  Prov 19:14 Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

H.  Heb 6:3-6For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit,  and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and {then} have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame.

I.  Heb 10:28-29Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

J.  1 Tim 6:17-18 Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

1.  Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

K.  Luke 16:11 So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches?
